Mainstream Church teachings claim that Bythos (The Gestalt, the True Unknowable Shape) is greater than any other power, and that evil exists as a cosmic error which will ultimately be overcome. Bythos does not direct the events occuring in the mundane world, and his church strongly emphasizes both the free will of humankind, and the core of the profane at the heart of its creation. This profanity is the result of the blind touch of Bythos’ immortal foe, Samael.
Unlike the Christian church of our world, the Church of the Gestalt does not recognize any mortal incarnation of the Gestalt. The very idea is the height of heresy, as creation itself is profane and no aspect of the Gestalt would ever physically touch this world. The only conduit between the Gestalt and the material world is through the divine soul that the Gestalt has implanted in humanity, as part of his plan. It is the desire of the Gestalt to undo the error of creation by spreading his influence through the divine spark, and establishing divine order out of the chaos. In time, even blind Samael will come to know the light of the transcendent and evil will be vanquished.
